Yeah but...

what about the new one?
To keep the odd numbers you have to find 1 more, its unwritten law of the shed.

odd

how are your numbers going, Stuart?

Posted by Ritchie on Mon, 08/03/2010 - 16:42
Just the one scoot...

but the amount cc added to the jog keeps it at an odd number, does that count?...probably not...lol
Nice machines though, above and the three of Ritchie.

when?

So when do we get to taste the dust from the newly mighty jog? A nice full-throttle run up the southern motorway from Karaka this Sunday, perhaps?

Stuart - JWC

A really good friend of mine has a jog as you know, he's 55kg's and living in coatsville now and is keen to soup it up, where do we start?

start at a MC shop

spend your money wisely and buy a bigger displacement bike!!!!!! I bet Ritchie paid less for his latest 190cc then a cylinder kit for a jog and will likely last longer, be more reliable and go faster. What is the point????

i hope so

$500, about 100kph, but i'm not so sure it will last, it has a bit of a rattle at idle (actually a bit like the PX rattle) but which goes away, or maybe just drowned out, on the move. we'll see.

Whom spends money wisely on dreams????

Snakebike if I had spent wisely this line up would never of happen! The PX a lone has cost me as much as a new Triumph or Sportster. Or another way of looking at it, the scooters in this photo combine cost much as the Harley. Oh the dog in middle has cost thousands on tennis balls & tough balls...

A pittance to one man is a fortune to other men.
A fool and his money is shortly parted. "Mum's favourite"
Can't die with it, you might as well enjoy it!

P.S. talking about spending wisely snakebike don't you own a GT/GTS 4 stroke? ; )

yes a very nice GT200 in white

I use it almost everyday, I would think that is a wise way to spend money. You are right about dreams and money, no one should worry about money or spending wisely on dreams or passions and I don't question your dreams or passion for your bikes. Lets keep this between me and you, but personnally, I do question the JOG dream though.......like I would question someone thinking of training my chickens to fly like a Godrich.

How far is to far

The new rego costs kinda negate any advantage in mopedling now but if half of the fun is playing with engines etc...

The variator is a good start with an oversize belt.
http://shop.scootling.co.nz/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=206

but it needs a stronger clutch centre spring to make the most of it.
That will see it go well off the dial but no more power for hills.
Then you start getting expensive.

I used a stage6 cylinder kit
leovince touring 'zorst. they look standard but not the best for the cylinder
and changed to 17.5mm carb.
all that will get a magic hole shot from the lights up to about 70kph with the standard CDI and using the standard oil pump.

The cdi is the most expensive but its the only way to get close to 100kph with a better pipe. But premix is safer then.
In Germany is common to get over 140kph of the little ringers.

To be honest the brakes and suspension aren't designed for high speed and at 75kph odd down a hill the front brakes could be a little (read: a lot) stronger.

To be honest if I hadn't already had the jog I probably would have gone the path of Ritchie.
The jog is great fun and still does the job for me around town but its still a moped and those long NZ highways need exploring...

Options, options, options...

There are so many options for you JWC if highways are what you wanna do. If you want to remain a dedicated scooterist, as I am, then there are lots of options including the likes of the Burgers, the Piaggios, the wonderful GTs and GTSs from Vespa, the PX (I have been around the Coro loop twice on my old one and only seized once) etc.....

I agree with SB, if you want speed, buy something that will not only get you there, but will stop you too!! Handy!!

Being a WOP, if I ever was tempted to go to big wheels, there would only be one option, Ducati. Stylish and fast. Everything that Vespa is for scooters, but in a big wheel version.

the big but

except that Vespas are generally reliable, and inexpensive to repair if something does go wrong!

Long NZ highways...

Long NZ highways, I couldn't recommend the Road King Custom more, 1450cc, high flow intake, power command, Vance & Hyde exhaust. The hard part is keeping under 120kmph or doing 50kms (impossible some where between 2nd & 3rd). Mandl might disagree and tell you, his 1580cc dyna softail is better, no doubt faster...
I have friends with Jogs and GT200's and japanese bikes as well. Don't tell anyone but I have a Yamaha SR250 hidden around back under a tarp and a GT 200 frame strapped to the celling of my garage, which one day might become one!(a trike I was thinking) ; 0

Long NZ highways just got back from Stewart Island

on the white one, long days or short days it didn't matter comfort of having a bed for mid day naps, a place to eat, able to make coffee or food, reasonable gaz mileage, no issues with rain or the cold, easy to camp stealth like, tunes all day long, yep the Townace performed beautifully I would recommend it any day,,,,,,,,

Ha, "the big but"

"except that Vespas are "generally reliable", and "inexpensive" to repair if something does go wrong!" I had to laugh at this statement. After I have had three piston seizers... on motorways. And have spent close to $20,000 on Vespa's in the last 2 years, I have to laugh and in that time i have ridden one 200-300kms and 3000kms on the other. Yet on the Harley, I have done 10,000kms since christmas day and I didn't have it for a week.

P.S. Eddie "braking"; 500kgs braking with 3 big disc brakes at 100kms+, brakes a lot quick than 200kgs on two little drum brakes doing a real 90.2kms, I'll tell you!
And as for style the Italians only do one stylish big wheels and thats a Moto Guzzi California. Tank huggers aren't stylish, but do go very very fast, in my mind. And going from a cruzin' style ( Vespa ) to a tank hugger is uncomprehensible to beside completely unridable! (knee's)

The name says it all really " Harley Davidson ROAD KING Custom "
Ha and the funniest thing is traffic, there is never any in your way, gridlock is like Mosas parting the red sea.

Harley Davidson have never copy other bike companies are still the fastest motorcycle in the world. And nearly every motorbike company have tried to copy Harley's...

Ha, money talks...

I never been offer money to ride people around on my Vespa's,
But yet have already made heaps with Harley Tours.... : )

Don't get me wrong small trips the Douglas is No# 1!
Blat's through the Wiatak's PX Extreme is No# 1 followed
closely by the Douglas No#2.
PX or Douglas great for around town all depends on how long I have to get there though.
Road King for everything else! 8000kms across the State's in 15days over 25days that what I call a Honeymoon : )
