Guess I won't be on a run for a while!

Thanks for all your support and kind comments.
I just got some pics of my scoot. I haven't seen it since I was being lifted into the ambulance. I can now see why my leg is so sore!
I have been out of hospital a few days now and am starting to get my strength back. Although I can get around on crutches I have to sit around doing nothing for a month as the Doc reckons that if I fall over the knee will blow apart. I have 3 plates and 14 screws holding everything together in there which eventually will fuse into my bone until then it will remain fragile. I have to remain non load bearing on my leg for 12 weeks. (Ice - I was lucky that the knee cap was one of the few things not to break in there).
I am lucky that I recently upgraded to a full face helmet - only cause I was sick of the rain! The only major graze to the helmet was right on the centre of the mouth guard. So I am pleased to still have my teeth and nose! I would advise anyone to get rid of their openface helmets - it's not worth the risk. I always thought a 50kph crash would be slow enough for you able to react and keep your face off the ground but within a split second I went from upright on my scoot to being wrapped around the rear tire of an SUV with little to no control on how my body arrived in that position.
So take care out there. Hopefully see you on some of the summer runs.

Glad that you are home now, Justin. Take it easy - hope that you manage to escape the boredom of sitting around while your knee mends by reading and being entertained by the Magnetos site :)
Take care.

I feel a bit sick seeing / reading that...jeez mate...
Did they just pull out in front of you?
All the best.
Kenny
Yeah they did. Coming down Upland Rd I saw a Hi Lux reversing out of a driveway. It then stopped which I (wrongly) assumed meant that it saw me so I released the brakes and carried on. It then floored it. It was going to do one of those manouvres where they reverse accross to the opposite side of the road in a J. It left me with about 5-6m in wet conditions to decide what I was going to do.
I braked too heavy on the front and went down just before I impacted into the wheel of the vehicle. I guess I would have gone flying if I'd stayed upright and maybe had different injuries. There was certainly no way around the ute.
I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning
I just saw this scoot in scooter-e ,it looks just as bad as in this pic. I am amazed you didn't come off much worse.
Hope your recovery goes well

I'll add this to my list of 'things not to show Megan (my wife)' so she allows me to keep riding my PX.
Also saw the bike in scooter-e. Glad you're still here to tell the tale. Take care and all the best.
It's a jungle out there.

That just sucks. Know how much you like that scoot and, naturally, your skin! Glad that you should mend, albeit that you might set off a few more metal detectors!!
Oh, and make sure the dude in the Hilux gets done. There needs to be some harsh lessons.
Cheers, Eddie
Don't move.... that knee sounds awfully painful. The photo as painfully scary. The helmet issue, I agree 1,000,000%. To quote Black Adder " imagine if you had your noise chopped off, when you sneezed it would...." And losing your bottom jar would really suck (through a straw). Take care Justin.
