Goetz - when can we start booking accommodation ? and how many, if any intend taking families with kids? I'll be reluctant bringing my boys if there is not a reasonable contingent of children, likewise if the rally is not intended to be child friendly environment, then thats cool, I can respect that, I just don't want the bullshit of "you don't take children to scooter rallies" banter, just need some consesus up front if this is going to be child friendly or not, and plan accordingly.
Good Friday, 21st March to Easter Sunday 23rd March
The 2008 National will be held in Turangi and has a "mexican" theme.
We are in the procedure to produce invites, programms and enrolment forms
All will be posted, displayed and public before the xmas break.
At this stage we look at the following draft:
Friday:
People arrive during the day, fun games and challenges, get together and vespalaver, Dinner buffet and entertainment
Saturday:
Breakfast, ride to Ruhapehu in a big group, alternatives for people who stay back, afternoon with heaps of games and competitions, dinner buffet and evening entertainment
Sunday:
breakfast and recovery - then farewells
price:
50$ for the RUN, which includes Dinners on Friday and Saturday, Breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday, Run memorabilia, prizes and surprises - kids up to 12 free
accomodation:
there are 2,3 and 4 berth cabins for 20$ per nose and night - 1/2 price for kids
tent sides 12$ per nose and night and there are campervan facilities - exact prices outlined in the coming invite.
Just watch this space, i will let you know when we are ready to enroll
Important:
Enrolment will close latest 2 weeks before the rally so we can organise the quantities ... if you turn up on the day unenrolled, tickets will be VERY limited and at least 20$ more expensive
Is there a group going from Auckland? If so, where are we meeting and how to I secure a space in the cabins? I am really keen as I am new to AKL, NZ and scooting in general. Thanks!
you obviously havent been on a rally organised by me ;-p
we always cater for kids and families... there will be a nice bunch of youngsters of all ages arround.
It is organised in a enviroment similar to the last national in Waihi, but will have more activities for young and old all arround.
i will set up a email adress very soon so you can ask for enrolment forms... but they will not be available till 2nd week january due to other commitments.
Accommodation will be in either cabins or tent or campervan.
I have pre-organised a good bunch of cabins, but if you wish to book before enrolment, here is the contact:
The cabins are 20$ per person and night, 10$ per child. They have 2,3 and few 4 berth cabins .. if you wish to book ahead, just tell them that you are with the national Rally crowd.
If Tupo race day is same weekend - no sweat, no real interest of conflict as it will likely a very diffrent crowd in Turangi to the races... and if timing is right (Saturday) we could change our plans and make the ride to the racetrack instead to the top of Mt Ruhapeu.
Enrolment for the Weekend Rally will be 50$ - kids under 12 will be free. This is seperate from accomodation.
The VC NC meets this saturday 8th March 4pm at Scooter e Motion for our monthly get together and ride ... this is the best opportunity to catch up, enroll and discuss who is riding when with whom
